It’s that time of year again and the Lynwood Animal Hospital staff have once again decided to participate as a team at one of largest fundraisers in support of the Ottawa Humane Society – The Wiggle Waggle Walk and Run. Our Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) Stefanie has been participating for three years now and helped to create a team from the clinic last year. We all had so much fun at the event that we decided to sign up again this year!

The Wiggle Waggle Walk and Run is celebrating its 30th year in 2018 and is an awesome time for the whole family! It’s a great way to come together as a community and help raise money for the nearly 10,000 animals that the Ottawa Humane Society cares for each year. Not only do they offer different distances that you can run or walk, but you can also sign up with your team as we are or even create a team with your dog. This event is produced by the amazing Run Ottawa group with their main sponsor being Escape Manor.

While the walk and run part is fun, there are always a lot of other things to do such as a K9 fun zone, the family fun zone, the puppy PAWasso booth (a play on the famous Pablo Picasso), the pet pavilion, as well as a VIP area for eligible fundraisers. Last year it was fun to watch all of the dogs try their paws at a bit of artwork, test their agility in the K9 zone and of course enjoy the walk along the canal with their owners.

The money that is raised is incredibly helpful and is used throughout the Humane Society in their animal care for both domestic and wild animals of which they receive in huge numbers each year. It is used to ensure basic care of the animals as well as for the more advanced care needs for their more sick and injured patients.

We will also have a bake and craft sale at Lynwood Animal Hospital to raise money for the Ottawa Humane Society leading to the event.
